Introduction

Criteria for manuscripts

The Editorial Board of Reproductive Biology takes under consideration for publication original articles with the understanding that neither the manuscript nor any part of its essential substance, tables or figures have been published previously in print form or electronically and are not under consideration by any other publication or electronic medium. Copies of any closely related manuscripts should be submitted to the Editor along with the manuscript that is to be considered by Reproductive Biology. Each submission packet should include the statement signed by the first author that the work has not been published previously or submitted elsewhere for review and a copyright transfer.

Types of article

Accepted papers are published in the following journal sections:

  • original research papers (not more than 42 000 characters without spaces)
  • review articles (not more than 55 000 characters without spaces)
  • short communications ( not more than 16 000 characters without spaces)
  • technical notes (not more than 14 000 characters without spaces).

Requirements for review articles, short communications and technical notes

The journal will publish only invited review articles. Spontaneously submitted review articles may also be submitted, but only if reference list contains publications of the authors submitting the review, indicating that the authors are experts in the field of the article’s topic. Such reviews will be subjected to a  preliminary evaluation by a member of the editorial board.

Short communications are normally shorter than full research reports, and should not exceed 8 pages, including figures, tables and references (see articles published previously in Reproductive Biology: www.repbiol.pan.olsztyn.pl). Short communications should present original data which are either of preliminary nature or of limited volume, nevertheless their important scientific meaning should justify accelerated publication. Summary should consist of 5-6 lines only; Introduction of no more than 2 paragraphs, Materials and Methods section should be undivided into subchapters and Results and Discussion combined into one part. Limit the number of tables/figures to 2-3 only. There should not be more than 15 references.

Technical notes are normally shorter than full research reports, and should not exceed 6 pages, including figures, tables and references. Technical notes should describe innovative methodologies or validation techniques in research related to human and animal reproduction. They should be concise with an expanded Methods and Materials section; they should also stress the novelty of a described methodology. Summary should consist of 5-6 lines only; Introduction of no more than 2-3 paragraphs and Results and Discussion combined into one part. There should not be more than 15 references.

Page charges

A fee of EUR 30 (USD 42, JPY 3 334) +VAT per typeset journal page is charged for accepted papers to defray distribution costs, thereby allowing papers to be published online as Articles in Press within 20 business days of acceptance (subject to prompt turnaround of proof by author). The ability to pay the fee does not influence decisions regarding the acceptance of a paper, which is solely dependent on the peer-review process. Standard payment method is by credit card. If the payee is an institution, there is an option to pay by an electronic bank transfer upon an invoice.
